"ENDURECIMENTO FÁCIL" significa que o aço é mais tolerante – ele oferece um resultado previsível e utilizável mesmo com pequenas variações nos parâmetros de endurecimento.

"HARDENING DIFÍCIL" exige uma estrita adesão aos parâmetros recomendados, pois até mesmo pequenos erros podem rapidamente agravar o resultado final.

Endurecimento do Aço N690

Austenitização

O processo de austenitização para o aço N690 envolve o aquecimento a 1030–1080°C (1885-1975°F) e mantendo a uma temperatura definida por 15-30 minutos, contando a partir do momento em que o aço atinge uma temperatura uniforme. Os tempos fornecidos pelo fabricante referem-se a componentes industriais; os tempos para peças finas não estão especificados.

Diretrizes práticas para austenitização:

Quanto mais espessa for a lâmina, mais tempo ela deve permanecer no forno.
Manter o aço no forno por muito tempo pode levar ao crescimento de grão; um tempo muito curto leva a uma austenitização incompleta (transformação microestrutural incompleta). Simplificando: à temperatura correta, deixar o aço no forno um pouco mais de tempo geralmente causa menos danos do que retirá-lo muito cedo. O maior erro é usar uma temperatura de austenitização incorreta.

Resfriamento

Após austenitização, o aço N690 é resfriado rapidamente. Meios de têmperaóleo. O material deve ser resfriado para aproximadamente 30°C.

Em oficinas práticas de tratamento térmico, tanto o resfriamento em óleo quanto o resfriamento em placas entre placas de alumínio com resfriamento forçado de ar são utilizados – particularmente para lâminas finas e planas, onde minimizar a deformação é importante.

Tratamento Sub-zero (Opcional)

Nas fontes disponíveis, não há contraindicações claras ao uso de tratamento a sub-zero (criogênico) para o aço N690. Na prática, parte da comunidade de fabricação de facas aplica este tratamento para potencialmente alcançar um aumento na dureza de cerca de +1-2 HRC e uma melhor estabilidade dimensional. Deve-se enfatizar, no entanto, que o fabricante não descreve nem recomenda este passo na especificação oficial, portanto, a decisão de usar o tratamento criogênico deve resultar exclusivamente da própria experiência e escolha informada do usuário.

Têmpera do Aço N690

Tempera é o reaquecimento controlado de uma lâmina endurecida a uma temperatura escolhida e mantê-la por um tempo determinado para reduzir a fragilidade e as tensões do endurecimento, aumentando a tenacidade ao impacto da faca.

De acordo com o fabricante, as temperaturas de temperagem recomendadas são de 100-200°C (210-390°F). No entanto, recomendamos usar uma faixa de temperagem de 175-200°C (350-390°F).

Temperar uma vez por 1 hora para cada 20 mm de espessura do material, mas pelo menos 2 horas. Na prática industrial, são recomendados dois ciclos completos de têmpera (2x2h).

Independentemente da temperatura utilizada, o fabricante recomenda o aquecimento e o resfriamento lentos do material para aproximadamente 30°C após cada etapa de têmpera.
