Indurimento dell'acciaio ApexUltra

Austenitizzazione

Il processo di austenitizzazione per l'acciaio ApexUltra prevede il riscaldamento a 780–880°C (1435-1615°F) e mantenendo la temperatura impostata per 10 minuti, contando dal momento in cui l'acciaio raggiunge una temperatura uniforme.

Raffreddamento

Dopo l'austenitizzazione, l'acciaio ApexUltra viene rapidamente raffreddato. Fluidi di tempra: aria o olio.

Trattamento a freddo (Opzionale)

Il trattamento a freddo è facoltativo, ma è efficace nel ridurre l'austenite trattenuta, specialmente dopo temperature di austenitizzazione più elevate. Subito dopo la tempra, trasferire l'acciaio in un mezzo a subzero (congelatore, ghiaccio secco o azoto liquido) e mantenere per circa 30 minuti.

In pratica, questo processo è un'estensione della tempra a una temperatura più bassa, quindi qualsiasi ritardo tra la tempra e il trattamento a temperature sotto zero può ridurne l'effetto.

Tempera dell'acciaio ApexUltra

La tempra è il riscaldamento controllato di una lama indurita a una temperatura scelta e il mantenimento per un tempo stabilito per ridurre la fragilità e le tensioni derivanti dall'indurimento, aumentando la resistenza all'impatto del coltello.

Il produttore raccomanda di temperare a 150–240°C (300–460°F) per 1 ora. Esegui due cicli, consentendo all'acciaio di raffreddarsi a temperatura ambiente tra i cicli.

I coltelli prodotti senza forgiatura - mediante taglio e smerigliatura da materiali piani (“rimozione del materiale”) - dovrebbero essere trattati termicamente come segue:

Austenitizzare a 830–885°C (1525–1625°F) per 10–15 minuti, quindi raffreddare in olio.
Tempra a 150–240°C (300–450°F), a seconda dell'equilibrio desiderato tra durezza e tenacità all'impatto.
Le proprietà sono leggermente inferiori quando il trattamento termico viene eseguito a partire dalle condizioni di ricezione rispetto a un trattamento termico a partire dalla condizione "55°C/h (100°F/h)". Per migliorare le proprietà, eseguire normalizzazione, affinamento del grano e ricottura con il tasso di raffreddamento menzionato di 55°C/h (100°F/h), come descritto di seguito.
