Nous coupons de l'acier à l'aide de scies à ruban, garantissant des bords droits. Nous n'utilisons pas de cisailles guillotine, qui peuvent déformer les feuilles et arrondir leurs bords.
Des rayures mineures ou des résidus ne sont pas un problème pour vous.
Parfois, une seule feuille d'acier passe plusieurs fois à travers la scie, ce qui peut provoquer de légères rayures à la surface. Il arrive également que des traces délicates de corrosion superficielle (minces résidus) apparaissent sur l'acier en raison des restes de liquide de refroidissement issus du processus de découpe. Les rayures et les résidus peuvent être facilement éliminés lors du meulage. Si vous avez besoin d'acier avec une surface parfaitement propre, notre produit ne répondra pas à vos attentes..
Vous pouvez redresser vous-même de légères déviations de surface.
Nous nous efforçons de livrer des pièces en acier parfaitement plates, mais nous ne pouvons garantir une planéité à 100 %. Toute légère courbure de surface n'est pas un défaut matériel, mais plutôt le résultat des tolérances du laminoir (tolérances de planéité pour les produits laminés). Un coutelier expérimenté peut gérer une telle courbure en un rien de temps.

Durcissement de l'acier ApexUltra

Austénitisation

Le processus d'austénitisation pour l'acier ApexUltra implique un chauffage à 780–880°C (1435-1615°F) et en maintenant à la température définie pendant 10 minutes, à compter du moment où l'acier atteint une température uniforme.

Trempe

Après l'austénitisation, l'acier ApexUltra est refroidi rapidement. Médias de trempe: air ou huile.

Traitement à froid (Optionnel)

Le traitement à froid est optionnel, mais il est efficace pour réduire l'austénite retenue - en particulier après des températures d'austénitisation plus élevées. Immédiatement après le trempage, transférez l'acier dans un milieu sub-zéro (congélateur, glace carbonique ou azote liquide) et maintenez-le pendant environ 30 minutes.

En pratique, ce processus est une extension de la trempe à une température plus basse, donc tout retard entre la trempe et le traitement à des températures inférieures à zéro peut réduire son effet.

Trempe de l'acier ApexUltra

Le tempérage est le réchauffement contrôlé d'une lame durcie à une température choisie et son maintien pendant un temps déterminé afin de réduire la fragilité et les contraintes dues à la durcissement, tout en augmentant la ténacité à l'impact du couteau.

Le fabricant recommande de tremper à 150–240°C (300–460°F) pendant 1 heure. Effectuez deux cycles, en laissant l'acier refroidir à température ambiante entre les cycles.

Recommandations du fabricant pour les couteaux fabriqués par la méthode de "retrait de matière"

Les couteaux produits sans forgeage - par découpe et meulage à partir de tôles plates (“enlèvement de matière”) - doivent être traités thermiquement comme suit :

  • Austénitisez à 830–885°C (1525–1625°F) pendant 10–15 minutes, puis trempez dans l'huile.
  • Trempez à 150–240°C (300–450°F), en fonction de l'équilibre souhaité entre dureté et résistance aux chocs.
  • Les propriétés sont légèrement inférieures lorsque le traitement thermique est effectué à partir de l'état reçu par rapport au traitement thermique à partir de l'état de « 55°C/h (100°F/h) ». Pour améliorer les propriétés, effectuez normalisation, affinement des grains et recuit avec le taux de refroidissement mentionné de 55°C/h (100°F/h), comme indiqué ci-dessous. Ces étapes doivent être complétées avant l'austénitisation et le trempage.

Normalisation, Affinage des grains et Recuit (Optionnel, avant l'Austénitisation et le Trempage)

Normalisation : 950 °C (1750 °F) pendant 10 à 15 minutes ; refroidissement à l'air.
Affinage des grains : Chauffez à 790°C (1450°F) pendant 10 minutes ; laissez refroidir à l'air.
Recuit : Chauffez à 790°C (1450°F) pendant 15 à 30 minutes, puis refroidissez à 55°C/h (100°F/h) jusqu'à 590°C (1100°F). Le taux de refroidissement en dessous de 590°C (1100°F) n'est pas critique.
